AllIN & RollIN : Inclusive In-line Skating

Rainbow Centre Singapore is a not-for-profit organisation that serves children and young people with a diverse range of moderate to severe developmental needs, including autism, physical, visual and/or hearing disabilities; many have multiple disabilities.

Access to play is key to inclusion. In collaboration with a professional in-line skating school, we are organising inclusive In-line Skating for children and youths with and without disabilities. Through this recreational activity, children, youths and adults will come together to learn, play and support one another.

There will be an introduction to the skills of in-line skating and games that will promote understanding of individual differences as well as cooperation and teamwork. We will be sharing about appreciating each other’s abilities and about the importance of inclusion. Participants will also have the opportunity to see the facilities and resources we use in the special school.

We believe that building understanding and fostering positive social interactions between people with and without disabilities is a powerful way to build an inclusive society in Singapore. A critical group of people are those closest to the person with disability and their families. Their awareness and ability to welcome and include people with disabilities forms the foundation of inclusion. We are inviting siblings/ relatives or friends of our students as well as members of the public to join us in this activity. There are 2 concurrent sessions on the same day, at different venues.
